  • We found this gem on the internet...an awesome converted barn with all amenities in Southern Devon, near the beautiful towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth. It is situated in the countryside amongst Devonshire fields in a quiet location. You can relax at the house, or do what we did, and use it as a base for exploring the beautiful countryside. We stayed for 6 nights which gave us just enough time to sample Dartmoor, the South Devon steam train, Dartmouth castle/coast walks, Hope Cove/coastal cliff walk and a few other walks along the cliffs. There are some lovely beaches nearby too. It is such a picturesque part of England and the local pubs serve excellent beer and local cider (not like the cider in the USA...try it and see) and great food! Visit the pub in Hope Cove, near the fishing harbor and the local one in Frogmore. Oh, and don't forget the Devonshire cream teas. Yum! If you want a comfortable, clean, well equipped place (has internet) to stay in the countryside, then this is the property for you. It's a great gathering place for families and friends and it is close to some awesome places to visit. We all had such a great time there. Kate Memphis, TN, USA June 2009
  • We have recently spent a wonderful long weekend at Kingfisher Cottage with our two young children and some friends with their 2 children. We were very impressed with the location which is truly idyllic and close to various amazing beaches. As for the accommodation, we really could not fault it. The kitchen was very well equipped, the beds were comfortable, the bed linen was lovely! and the shower was powerful with lots of hot water!! Having 2 bathrooms made it very easy with 2 families being there and both have baths too. We had great weather so didn't really need it but there is a great TV and good selection of DVDs . If you are looking for some great accommodation close to Devon's gorgeous beaches then I would definitely recommend a stay at Kingfisher Cottage. June 2009
  • Fantastic cottage in an area of oustanding beauty - secluded yet close to some of the best beaches in Devon with only short drives to Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcombe - in short an excellent base for foraying into South Hams. The cottage itself is very comfortable, ample space for a family of up to seven with all the mod-cons one could wish for (even wi-fi! so bring your laptop...)A great 5-star property in a marvellous area of the UK.
